Transfer of West Jersey

In March of 1674, Berkeley frustrated by a lack of profit from the land and the constant disputes sold his half of the colony to John Fenwick and Edward Byllinge for 1000 pounds. They were Quakers who were joined by others of the same faith and shared common ownership until 1676. Their portion was well over half the state covering the south west.
