1858The modern study of Paleontology began with the finding of the first complete dinosaur skeleton in Haddonfield. It was later named Hadrosaurus foulkii.Points of interest in history

1869The first intercollegiate football game was played in New Brunswick.
1876Thomas Edison opens his lab in Menlo Park.
1877Thomas Edison invents the phonograph on December 6; the first recorded song was Mary Had a Little Lamb.
1879Thomas Edison invents the electric light (incandescent light) on October 21.
1882The first pier built over the water is built in Atlantic City; and it is still the longest in the world.
1883Roselle becomes the first US town to be lighted by electricity.
1887Edison moves his lab to West Orange.
1927The Holland Tunnel opens.
1933The first drive-in theater opens in Camden.
